Passionate
I strongly believe in the value of public education and the positive impact a great school system can have on kids, parents, and the community.
Experienced
With a wide variety of interests, opportunities, and experience, I feel I have what it takes to serve SDSM with perspective, wisdom, integrity, and humility.
Invested
My entire family learns at, works for, plays in, or volunteers for our great schools nearly every day, and we LOVE the people and places of South Milwaukee.
Here are some characteristics I bring to the table:
Thoroughness - I'm detail-oriented. For any topic that comes to the board, I do my homework, researching options and making sure I've evaluated things from multiple angles. Leaving things half done is not my style. If there is an 'i' to dot or a 't' to cross, I'll do it.
Solid Reasoning - In my day job as a structural engineer it is critical that I make decisions which are reasonable, impartial, fact-based, and follow the rules. My goal is to leverage this mindset for school board work where appropriate, so the decisions I make are solid and can be backed up with fair, consistent explanations.
Flexibility - In my short time on the board so far it has become apparent to me that there is a LOT to learn, and for many topics I must rely on others who have more insight than me. Because I believe very few issues are "cut and dry", I am committed to keeping an open mind and allowing my perspective and opinions to develop over time, in order to stay flexible and adapt to the ever-evolving and dynamic needs of the school district.
